What is this
MarkMark is a native macOS Markdown reader. A three-pane layout — file tree on the left, rendered view in the middle, outline on the right — open and read instantly.
On top of a classic reader, it adds a review workflow: while reading a Markdown document (especially AI-generated content), you can select text directly in the rendered page and annotate it — delete, replace, comment, highlight — then copy the annotated document to an AI in one click and let it revise accordingly. Read → annotate → hand to AI. A closed loop.
✨ Core feature: CriticMarkup review
- Annotate as you read — select any text in the rendered view; a floating toolbar offers four actions:
..., Highlight ..., Comment `, Replace old
- WYSIWYG annotation styling — insertions in green, deletions in red strikethrough, comments as 💬 bubbles, highlights in an accent color, all visible at a glance while reading
- Copy for AI in one click — the ✨ button in the title bar (or
⌘⇧C) copies a "guiding prompt + the full text with CriticMarkup annotations"; paste it into any LLM to have it understand and revise
Clear all annotations in one click — the eraser button restores the document to its original text
Annotations use standard CriticMarkup syntax: plain text, portable, no lock-in
Typical use: an AI writes you a Markdown doc → open it in MarkMark → select the problem sentences and annotate "change this to…", "delete this paragraph", "add a data source" → ✨ copy → drop it back into the chat and have the AI rewrite.

MarkMark is forked from and pays tribute to davidhoo/MarkdownReader — an excellent, reading-focused native macOS Markdown reader.
On top of it, MarkMark mainly did three things:
- Lowered the minimum requirement from macOS 26 to macOS 14 — migrated the rendering layer from the macOS-26-only SwiftUI
WebView/WebPage back to the classic WKWebView, and ships a universal binary (arm64 + x86_64) so it runs natively on Intel Macs too.
Added CriticMarkup review and the "Copy for AI" workflow — turning the reader into a lightweight AI content-review tool.
Removed editing, trimming to pure "read + annotate" — a more focused positioning: not an editor, just a quiet reader and reviewer.
Thanks to the original author. The upstream project is also MIT licensed.

典型用法：让 AI 写了一篇 Markdown → 用 MarkMark 打开 → 选中有问题的句子标注「这里要改成…」「这段删掉」「补个数据来源」→ ✨ 复制 → 丢回对话框让 AI 重写。
